Become a Chartered Development Finance Analyst

The enactment of the Development Finance Institutions Act, 2020 (Act 1032) represents the most significant legislative intervention in Ghana’s development finance landscape in decades. Act 1032 establishes a comprehensive regulatory architecture for development finance institutions (DFIs), entities whose mandate extends beyond profit maximisation to the catalytic mobilisation of capital for national development, infrastructure delivery, agricultural transformation, and inclusive financial access. Yet, legislation alone cannot deliver its intended objectives. The transformative promise of Act 1032 is contingent upon the existence of a sufficiently skilled, ethically grounded, and professionally certified cadre of development finance practitioners capable of implementing its provisions, managing DFI portfolios with technical rigour, and holding institutions accountable to their development mandates.

In view of this, the Institute of Chartered Development Finance Analysts (ICDFA) was established as an independent, recognised professional body with a globally standardised pathway and statutory rights to advance and promote the development finance profession that Act 1032 envisages butthat Act 1032 envisages but does not, by itself, create.
